NiGiGooSiWiiGiWaam Child Care Centre
NiGiGooSiWiiGiWaam Child Care Centre has been in operation since 1998.
1998 to 2018 we were located at 423 U-Drive, since then our new location has been newly built due to the lack of space and accommodations for our children attending our NiGiGooSiWiiGiWaam Child Care Centre.
Within our new space we are able to offer more programming and more parent events.
MISSION STATEMENT
We the helpers of the NiGiGoonSiWiiGiWaam Child Care Centre believe children are unique gifts from the creator
We will provide a safe, loving secure anishinabe environment, in order to assist you, the family with instilling pride, self-esteem, respect and cultural values and languaage in your child.
OBJECTIVES
- Provide a safe environment
- Revitalize language and culture in children
- Enhance children’s lives through play and positive discipline
- Provide age appropriate programming and literacy
- Ensure healthy snacks and meals are provided
- Teach children social skills such as: taking turns, sharing, and self control
ABOUT/PROGRAMS:
- Licensed for 3 Infants (new, not operational as of yet)
- 10 Toddler (1 teacher and 1 assistant)
- 16 Preschool (1 teacher and 1 assistant)
- Resource Teacher on site
- Native language/Family & Child Worker on Site
- Cook
- Janitor/Maintenance
SERVICES:
- Occupational Therapy
- Physiotherapy
- Speech & Language programming
- Dental Hygienist
All programs are licensed out and have a designated room for these services. We also have a registered nurse who comes to the centre to do provide vaccinations such as (flu shots, immunizations).
