Aquatech Pump and Power covers Northern Ontario with offices in Sudbury, Timmins and Thunder Bay

Dewatering can be one of the most critical and challenging components of a mining project. Mining professionals recognize that dewatering is more than just simply picking a pump to use to get rid of the water and that the vendor selected needs to have more than a catalogue to deliver the solution.

In addition to water there are other fluids such as sewage, slurries, tailings, petrochemical and many more that constantly require managing and as such, various models and types of pumping and specialized equipment are required to facilitate this in order to securely convey the flow.

Mine operators understand reliability is essential, therefore their product selection also relies heavily on who is supporting it. Mines can be in remote environments and so access to service, engineering support and a wide range of inventory can be as important as the product itself.

Founded in 2006, Aquatech’s philosophy is to provide fully supported and comprehensive dewatering solutions to the mining, construction, industrial and municipal industries. In 2011, Aquatech opened a new branch in Sudbury to service the mining industry, this year Aquatech will also open branches in Timmins and Thunder Bay.

Aquatech Pump and Power has one of the largest portable pumping equipment rental fleets in the country, they also specialize in the sale of specialized lines of pumping equipment for most applications of any surface and underground mine.

Aquatech Dewatering Company provides a breadth of contract dewatering services including; groundwater control systems, well drilling, aquifer pumping tests, and pond draining and dredging services.

A few of the new feature products being introduced this year by Aquatech include;

• Dragflow Super Duty Submersible Slurry Pumps are designed for heavy-duty applications, especially for slurry with abrasive solids, and capable of pumping as much as 70% solids by weight and up to 5” diameter solids, making them ideal for dredging and slurry pumping applications; Electric models range from 5 to 300 HP, Hydraulic from 24 to 400 HP

• Sulzer Multistage Ring-Section Pumps, ideal for pumping clear or slightly polluted water. Heads of 3,000 ft. can be achieved with flows up to 3,000 USGPM. These pumps are made of chromium steel and include a suction casing, discharge casing and stage casings divided in perpendicular sections to the rotation axial. For corrosive pumped liquids, we can also supply the pump in all duplex stainless steel. The wear rings are in PEEK polymer material.

• Cornell SP Series Slurry Pumps, available in chrome iron and rubber configurations, are designed to transport strong abrasive slurry with high concentration of solids at pH levels of 5 to 12. The SP series pumps are designed to handle abrasive high density slurries in mining, metallurgical, coal and other industrial applications;

• The Pitbull Pump is an innovative pump that uses only two check valves and a hollow chamber, the Pitbull will fill and then discharge almost any combination of liquid and solids that can flow through its wide open inlet.

Pitbulls use compressed air as the motive force, acting directly on the liquid without the need for diaphragms or seals. The all-pneumatic operation simplifies installation, eliminates shock hazards and is suitable for explosion-proof areas
