New Personal Support Worker Lab Example of Best Practice

Sep 4, 2013
Cambrian College unveiled a new state-of-the-art Personal Support Worker (PSW) simulation lab on August 22, which was constructed over the summer thanks to generous funding support from the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care through the SIM-one Ontario Simulation Network.

Equipped with the latest in simulation technology, the fully-furnished lab offers a home-like setting that will provide students with a hands-on experiential learning opportunity that’s second-to-none.

Cambrian President Peter Lawlor and the Chief Operating Officer from SIM-One, Susan Lenard, were joined by Dan Draper, Dean of the School of Health Sciences, and Sonia Del Missier, Vice President, Academic, for the “gauze cutting” ceremony.

“At a time when governments are looking for better ways to do things, we see this as an example of best practice in the health care sector,” said President Lawlor. "Cambrian College is part of the solution when it comes to connecting people to jobs and offering the educational experience that employers demand.”
