Historic high grade nickel showing, historic DDH intersection of 1.17% Ni and 0.39% Cu over 4.7m, Grab samples up to 3.82% Ni and 2.38% Cu.
A total of 20 historic drill holes have been completed on the property, however the mineralization remains open in all directions. The mineralization is hosted in mafic to ultramafic intrusive rocks that have seen little exploration to date.
Geology and Resources
The property hosts the Mongowin pluton, which is ~ 800 m x 430 m wide, and plunges 70 degrees SW. This Proterozoic mafic/ ultramafic intrusion averages (33 wt.% MgO whole rock samples)has been dated to 1450 million years old. 92,610 tonnes grading 0.53% Ni and 0.27% Cu to a depth of 75 m (non 43-101 compliant).
As well, a previously reported intersection of 6.5 meters grading 0.84% Ni and 0.36% Cu, was drilled at a depth of 185 m under the resource.
History and Results
An AeroTEM HD airborne magnetic and electromagnetic survey of the property was completed in 2011 (339 line km) and identified additional targets on the property.
HTX completed a 2 hole 486 meter drill program in the fall of 2011 in an effort to replicate the previously reported intersection of 6.5 meters at 0.84% Ni, and 0.36% Cu, as well as to potentially test the depth extent of the mineralized zone.
Drilling revealed a massive, fresh, peridotite-pyroxenite intrusion that contains magmatic Ni-Cu sulphides, with elevated base metal values, along the contact. A borehole EM survey verified the existence of a conductor, consistent with the historic resource.
