Statement from the Geological Association of Canada

Apr 14, 2021
We are shocked and saddened by the recent wide-ranging cuts made to academic programmes at Laurentian University. These cuts will significantly reduce access to local high-quality university education for students from northern Ontario and will have a disproportionate impact on Indigenous and Francophone education options.

We stand with the Laurentian University community at this difficult time and call on the Provincial Government of Ontario to reverse this process and treat Laurentian University like the public institution it is by recognizing its value and contributions to education and research, locally, regionally, and nationally.
