Aboriginal Healthy Babies Healthy Children (HBHC) 
 
  • Supports for pregnant women and families with children 0-6 years 
  • Home visits by nurses and other home visitors help expectant and new parents with having a healthy pregnancy and birth, breastfeeding, nutrition, child development, and being a parent
 
Child and Family Services
 
  • Delivers child care and protection services and family support services to community members
  • Teaches parenting skills
  • Assists children through difficult times
  • Develops and administers healthy social and recreational programs for families
  • Hosts community forums on youth drug abuse, inadequate housing, schooling problems and after school activities
  • Provides information sessions about understanding substance dependency and resulting family violence, and overcoming oppression by understanding cultural realities
  • Processes requests to have children in external foster care brought back to homes within the community
  • Provides advocacy on behalf of the child and family
 
Diabetes Education Program
 
  • Information about living with diabetes
  • Includes monitoring blood sugar levels, food choices, exercise, medications, and lifestyle choices
 
Home and Community Care
 
  • Supports for older adults, and adults with disabilities 
  • Helps people remain independent in their own homes for as long as possible
  • Culturally appropriate services for Aboriginals
 
Congregate Dining
Provides shared mealtimes with hot food and social activities
 
Friendly Visiting and Security Checks  
Regular visits or phone calls to older adults and people with disabilities who live alone, to provide companionship and reassurance
 
Home Maintenance 
Referrals to local services such as yard work, minor repairs, garbage pick up, grass cutting, snow removal and wood cutting
 
In-Home Personal Support  
Supports for the activities of daily living, including personal care, meal preparation, laundry, and light housekeeping
 
Meals on Wheels
 
  • Hot meals delivered to older adults, adults with disabilities and those recovering from an illness or surgery
  • Service can be provided on a short-term or long-term basis
  • Prepares meals according to persons' diet requirements such as diabetic, lactose, low sodium and low fat
 
Nursing  
Provides nursing service which may include wound care, monitoring of chronic conditions such as diabetes, heart disease and post op care
 
 
Medical Transportation 
Coordinates medical transportation services and assists with medical appointments in other communities
 
National Native Alcohol and Drug Abuse Program (NNADAP)  
Prevention, intervention, and follow up services for people with addictions
 
Home Support  
 
  • Assistance with daily chores, such as laundry, light housekeeping, pet care, errands, shopping, meal preparation and friendly visiting
  • Service is offered weekly, bi-weekly, monthly, or seasonally
