Ontario Drive & Gear

President's Message

Aug 19, 2013

After more than two decades at the helm of Ontario Drive & Gear, I enjoy running this company more than ever. ODG is a dynamic company where Customer Satisfaction is the common goal of all our employees. I consider it a pleasure and privilege to work with such a talented and highly motivated group of people here at ODG.

We are committed to the continuous improvement of our products and services. As we grow, we continue to invest in state-of-the-art manufacturing technology as well as the latest design technology to offer our customers the benefits of efficient production and rapid product development.

The ARGO, still our mainstay, was introduced in 1967. Even after such a long involvement with this product, the ARGO still holds its magic for me. Every time I take this remarkable machine deep into the bush of Canada's North, I fall in love with it again. Today, in terms of units produced, the ARGO is worldwide the most successful amphibious vehicle ever built! After nearly four decades of continuous improvement and refinement, today’s ARGO is also better than ever before.

Just like the Argo, our Customers are often extraordinary as well. One in particular traveled 1000 miles across the frozen Hudson Bay in January 1995. He told us that without the reliability of his ARGO, he never would have made it on this challenging journey.

In the year 2000 we achieved our millennium milestone by introducing the CENTAUR, a revolutionary amphibious vehicle. In many ways the CENTAUR is the ARGO's big brother since its development is based on thirty years of experience manufacturing amphibious vehicles, yet its patented drive and steering system is a vast leap forward.

Our vehicles' unmatched versatility makes them fascinating and fun products to sell. We all relish the challenge of continually adapting them to new uses in all parts of the world. They serve as minesweepers for the UN, as ambulances, as fire and rescue units as well as in re-forestation projects and trail grooming.

In 2001 we reached another milestone in our corporate history when we opened a new, state-of-the-art plant to house our Gear Division. The ODG people share my commitment to make this the finest gear manufacturing facility in the country.

In short, ODG is a unique company where a great team builds fascinating products for extraordinary people.
