Crushing

Apr 2, 2014
Challenge: You’re accustomed to downtime when it comes to your primary jaw and gyratory crushers, but it’s usually planned. Following the rigorous duties these machines perform, your staff takes them offline for up to eight hours daily for cleaning, inspection, and repair. Mechanical failures are inevitable for primary, secondary, and tertiary crushers. Given the severity of impact that components absorb, it’s not uncommon for small, undetected problems to accelerate to catastrophic failure rapidly. When that occurs, provided you’ve inventoried the necessary parts, it could take your staff days to get your crusher back online – all the while your stockpile continues to deplete.

Solution: Detect emerging problems on your crushing equipment with the Emerson CSI 6500 condition-based monitoring system. It continuously monitors critical gears and motors, exposing elevating levels of machinery stress. The CSI6500 uses a patented signal processing approach to discern between standard operational impacts and component defects, which are not easily identifiable with conventional vibration analysis. Your staff will gain greater confidence as real problems are surfaced to them for corrective action. By interfacing with Emerson's AMS Machinery Manager, teams can determine equipment faults and severity and correlate findings with other collected data such as oil samples – all within the same software environment.
