Under the direction of the Recreation Board, the Recreation Program is responsible for developing and implementing age-appropriate recreational programs for the community of Sandy Lake utiliizing available resources.
 
The Recreation Program operates and maintains one indoor arena. Artificial ice is maintained seasonally and accommodates ice sports like hockey and broomball through a scheduled format. Two staff members are trained in ice and arena maintenance. A concession stand at the arena is operated by volunteers.
 
The Recreation Program works in partnership with other local community programs to maximize the success of organized events. The Recreation Program is also responsible for overseeing the coordination of annual community events like Treaty Days.
 
Board Members
 
The Recreation Board is appointed by Chief and Council and consists of five members - one from each of the five geographical areas of the community. Working cooperatively with Chief and Council and the community as a whole, the Recreation Board provides direction to the Recreation Program in delivering program objectives.
