Engagement

Oct 10, 2013

INDI Indigenous Development (INDI) helps clients develop positive and long-term relationships with Aboriginal communities. Community engagement has the potential to expedite the project development process and to enhance benefits for both the local communities and the industry. The process facilitates an earnest exploration of Aboriginal opportunities for sustainable business development, employment and capacity building. By communicating with Aboriginal communities during the life cycle of the project, companies can address and resolve potential concerns to everyone’s satisfaction.

To be effective, community engagement should include:
• Understanding the cultural norms and values of the local aboriginal community
• Listening and responding to community concerns
• Understanding community objectives and priorities
• Providing information about planned exploration activities
• Considering the advice of communities in relevant exploration permitting processes, and
• Jointly establishing realistic understanding of potential outcomes.

"INDI knows their business, and they keep their word. We highly recommend INDI to First Nations looking to capture business and employment opportunities for their membership and to generate additional revenues."
