Conical Flyash Hopper

Jan 9, 2014

Case Study Outline:

Application: 48” diameter conical steel hoppers

Liner: TIVAR 88-2

Bulk Material: Flyash

Problem: Rat-holing, plugged discharge, and erratic flow conditions.

Background:

Fabrication company supplying conical steel hoppers to end user was asked to provide a solution to eliminate flow and sticking problems.

Problem:

The Flyash mixture would adhere to the steel hopper. This resulted in a plugged discharge which not only halted further production, but also clogged equipment up-stream.

Solution:

TIVAR 88-2 liners were engineered and fabricated to fit into conical hoppers. Material was formed to provide tight fit. Small access covers were also lined to provide an entirely smooth surface.

Result:

After the TIVAR 88-2 liners were installed, all the build-up and sticking problems have been completely eliminated. Fabricator has received multiple additional orders.
