Classifier Chute

Jan 9, 2014

Case Study Outline:

Application: Classifier chute with 130 tons per hour through flow.

Liner: Tivar MXL

Bulk Material: 3/16” under Limestone

Volume: Approx. 130 tons/hour. 10-12 hrs. per day

Problem: Aggregate wears out hardened steel chute.

Background:

Limestone aggregate quarry producing various grades of aggregate for construction industry.

Problem:

The classifier chute would wear out after operating for only a partial season. The hardened steel plate was costly and very labour intensive to replace, resulting in a shutdown day during busy season.

Solution:

Tivar MXL sacrificial liners were engineered and fabricated to fit into pre-fabricated polymer sleeves which fit into the classifier chute. The Tivar MXL liner would last a complete season and could be replaced easily by one person when the plant was off-line.

Result:

“A real practical solution which saves time and money! Low cost part replacement of sacrificial piece, huge reduction in labour (no steel work required), replacement of Tivar MXL – a simple task!”

Keeping maintenance to a minimum during peak season is crucial to production in an aggregate quarry.
