In underground mines, health and safety regulations for mining require that every vehicle that contains more than 100 liters of hydraulic fluid be equipped with an automatic extinguishing system .

In an open mine, every truck with a capacity of more than 77 metric tonnes and all other heavy equipment such as drilling machines, excavators, loaders, levelers, etc. must be equipped with an automatic fire protection system . NFPA Edition 122 2010 12.3.7.3 and 12.3.7.3.1

As stated in NFPA standards – Edition 17 2009 11.2.1, inspections must be made according to the manufacturing manual every month. NFPA – Edition 17 2009 11.3.1 states that maintenance work must be done every six months according to the manufacturing manual after either six months or 1000 hours, whichever comes first. NFPA – Edition 17 2009 11.1.3 indicates that maintenance must be done by a certified technician that has passed the manufacturer’s exam.
