Sixth Annual Greenstone Gold Mines Community BBQ

Jul 4, 2018

Greenstone Gold Mines (GGM) hosted its 6th Annual Community BBQ Event at the Geraldton Waterfront on Monday June 18th where Eric Lamontagne, General Manager, welcomed more than 300 guests expressing appreciation for the continued support it has received from the community. On hand for the event were GGM’s Board of Directors and Councillor Eric Pietsch who said a few words of welcome on behalf of the Municipality of Greenstone. The weather was warm, the food was delicious, and the mood was positively radiant in anticipation of a very special guest.

The event provided local residents, business owners, stakeholders, First Nation members, Metis citizens with an opportunity to meet and discuss the Hardrock Project with GGM team members. Pepper the Penguin made his debut appearance during the event and was warmly received. Pepper met with guests and took many selfie photos with kids and adults alike. The Door Prize Draw, a Broil King BBQ was won by Eileen Boracheff.

GGM informed guests that there will be upcoming Public Information Centre events with a focus on Permitting Consultation. Next steps for the project as we await the Environmental Impact Statement/Environmental Assessment approvals from the regulators include preparing for permitting and mine closure consultation.

The success of the event would not have been possible without the support of the community at large and the support of local organizations and businesses. A special thank you to the Municipal staff who assisted the GGM team during the planning and delivery of the event.
