Timmins is the ultimate fusion of the urban and the rural. On the one hand, it’s big enough to provide all of the amenities and services expected of a larger city, while on the other, it’s small enough to ensure that you’re never far from the outstanding landscape northern Ontario is known for. If you’re the type of person that likes to hunt, fish or camp, you’ll find plenty of space to do the things you love. Come winter time, you’ll find fantastic opportunities for snowmobiling, ice fishing and both cross-country and downhill skiing. But what if you’re the type that would rather go to an art show, concert or the symphony? Well, you’ll find those things in Timmins too. Why choose between cosmopolitan luxuries and superior outdoor activities? In Timmins you can have both!

With a population of just over 43,000, Timmins is a thriving city where you’ll find an assortment of athletic facilities, a multiplex cinema, lively nightlife and cuisine from around the world. Timmins is also the home of a first-rate museum and the Timmins Symphony Orchestra, as well as numerous local artists and art communities of all shapes and sizes. If shopping is your thing, you’ll find plenty of merchants, from rustic and boutique shops to big box stores. Annual activities like Summerfest, Winter Carnival, The Great Canadian Kayak Challenge and Festival and the downtown core’s Urban Park showcase Timmins’ strong sense of community, and are great opportunities to engage in the rich local culture. If you want a taste of the local music scene, you’d be best to check out the city’s annual Summer Concert Series held at Hollinger Park.

If all of this is starting to sound too big-city, don’t worry. Timmins is spacious enough that you won’t have to deal with metropolitan problems like traffic jams or line-ups at your favorite hang-out spots. If you crave an environment where you can enjoy the benefits of both small-town living and big-city excitement, you’ll find Timmins a perfect fit.
