For responsible and transparent mining

The Argentine Chamber of Mining Entrepreneurs adheres to the “Towards a Sustainable Mining” program created by the Canadian Mining Association, which sets international quality and control standards to guarantee responsible, transparent and reliable mining activity.

It consists of a set of tools and indicators that drive good performance and ensure that the main risks of mining are properly managed, setting parameters and instances of external control for mining companies.

By adhering to the Guiding Principles of this initiative, CAEM partners commit to work towards:

  • The communities and people in the area of influence of operations, interacting responsibly in their community approach, managing their safety, their health and guaranteeing an adequate environment for employees and contractors.
  • The promotion of world-leading environmental practices, improving their performance and ensuring responsible operations at their facilities to protect safety, biodiversity and the environment.
  • The commitment to improve energy efficiency and reduce greenhouse gas emissions, through management systems, reports and performance objectives, not only helping operations, but also reducing operating costs.

CAEM will promote participation in the program of its partners. Participants are guided by a set of guiding principles and annually report their performance in relation to program indicators in Progress Reports. Results are publicly available and externally verified.

The program also includes consulting with a national group of advisers made up of diverse stakeholders, which helps foster dialogue, improve industry performance, and shape the program for continued advancement.
