Barrick Cortez Inc. - Cortez Hills Pipe Project

The Cortez Hills Mine, located 100 kilometers southwest of Elko, Nevada, is owned by the Barrick Gold Corporation. It is a traditional mine development project and Cementation’s main scope of work involves the development of ventilation access drifts to expand the mine ventilation systems. The development is mechanized jumbo work in sometimes challenging ground. Cementation has also been carrying out various underground installation and construction work.

Iron Ore Company of Canada (IOC) - Carol Lake Mine

For a number of years Cementation crews have carried out rehabilitation and construction work for IOC at their iron ore open pit mine in Labrador. Although this is an open pit operation, the ore handling system goes underground for ore storage and transport. Cementation does bin repairs, wall support, and various construction maintenance and repair activities for the mine. Due to the remoteness of the operations and the tight timelines, the project logistics are important and our crews must be self-sufficient in their operations.

New Gold Inc. - New Afton Project

Cementation previously carried out pre-production underground development work for New Gold at its New Afton site near Kamloops, British Columbia. In 2010 Cementation returned to New Afton to carry out a second scope of work involving the installation of the main conveyor system as well as construction and installation of the temporary crusher, and to provide support for installation of the gyratory crusher underground. Cementation’s ability to do all aspects of the project including excavation has been beneficial. The conveyor installation was commissioned and immediately began transporting ore and waste for the mine. The gyratory crusher system is currently under construction.

Cementation's raise boring crews also drilled and reamed several raises on site, while engineering support has been provided on an as needed basis during mine development and construction.
