Ville Marie Diamond Property
The project is 100% owned by Northern Superior Resources Inc., except for the property associated with the Lac Honorat kimberlite pipe. That pipe is located on claims owned by FieldEx Exploration Inc., of which Northern Superior has 100% rights to the diamonds with FieldEx holding a 2% gross overriding royalty.
Highlights
- Discovery of two kimberlite pipes, one of which is diamond bearing;
- Establishment of 8 additional kimberlite targets defined through extensive overburden and associated heavy mineral analysis on Kimberlite indicator Minerals (KIMs) and kimberlite boulders, a variety of geophysical surveys; and
- Established that the geotherm, obtained through the interpretation of heavy mineral geochemistry, indicates that the correct geotherm exists in the Ville Marie area to support a diamond deposit.
The Property
The Ville Marie diamond project is located north and east of the town of Ville Marie in west- central Québec, located on the Superior Province of the Canadian Shield (Figure 1).

Geology
The Canadian Shield is one of the largest Archean cratons in the world and is regarded as a highly prospective region for kimberlite exploration, meeting all geological criteria for hosting kimberlites with potentially economic diamond grades. In addition, the Ville Marie diamond project is associated with the Temiscamingue kimberlite field, one of four kimberlite fields recognized in Québec. Specifically, the project is located on the eastern flank of the Temiscamingue structural zone, a major geological structure that extends northwest towards the James Bay Lowlands where a kimberlite cluster has been discovered hosting economic diamond- bearing kimberlite (DeBeers Victor Pipe). Other kimberlites within this cluster are currently being evaluated for their economic potential.
The Property Currently Consists Of…
The property currently consists of 144 claims covering an area of 8,243 hectares (Figure 2).

Exploration History
2003
- Northern Superior Resources initiates an extensive overburden sampling program; and
- Defines eleven (11) high priority kimberlite exploration areas.
2004
- Northern Superior contracts an extensive airborne geophysical survey;
- Northern Superior completes a second phase of overburden sampling focusing on six (6) of the eleven (11) high priority kimberlite exploration areas; and
- Drill program completed but no kimberlite intersected.
2005
- Overburden mapping completed; and
- Kimberlite boulders discovered with favorable indicator mineral geochemistry.
2006
- Reverse circulation drill programs completed, kimberlite cuttings recovered from the Morin pipe; and
- Kimberlite Boulders submitted for Petrography: “The source from which these rocks derive has the potential to carry economic quantities of diamonds”.(B. Scott-Smith).
2007
- Reverse circulation drill programs completed, kimberlite cuttings recovered from the Lac Honorat pipe;
- Diamond drill program intersects two kimberlite pipes, the Morin and Lac Honorat;
- Morin kimberlite diamondiferous, but not economic; and
- Lac Honorat kimberlite not tested for diamonds as kimberlite indicator minerals suggest that it would also be non- economic.
2008
- Two reverse circulation drill programs completed, this coupled with the results from previous overburden sampling programs defines at least twelve (12) more kimberlite pipes; and
- Material from the Lac Honorat kimberlite pipe undergoes petrographic and grain geochemistry. Although the laboratory reported that this pipe sampled the mantle too high for an economic diamond deposit, the geotherm obtained from the interpretation of grain geochemistry indicates that the correct geotherm exists in the Ville Marie area to support a diamond deposit.
Potential
- Located on one of the most underexplored Archean aged Cratons for diamonds in the world, and on an important structural trend in North America hosting Ontario’s first diamond mine- the Victor Kimbelite;
- Discovery of two kimberlite pipes already discovered, one diamondiferous but improperly tested (Figure 3);
- Heavy lifting completed, 8 targets defined, ready to drill (Figure 3);
- Determination by independent laboratories that the potential for kimberlite to carry economic quantities of diamonds exist (from geochemical and petrographic analysis of Kimberlite Indicator Minerals (KIM) recovered from kimberlite and kimberlite boulders discovered on the property);
- Mining- friendly Province, with significant tax breaks for exploration (34% return on every hard dollar spent); and
- Easy access to all sites, local communities able to supply good and services to support exploration and mining activity.
