Ditch Hitch

There are two Ditch Hitch units included to ensure the system is used Ditch Hitch to Ditch Hitch only to prevent users from connecting to potentially un-safe mechanisms that could cause harm or damage to personnel and equipment. Customers have had very serious incidents (near fatalities) when they pulled out another vehicle that did not have a Ditch Hitch on the other end. They attached the recovery strap to something not designed for shock load vehicle recovery and immediately found themselves in the line of fire when the other apparatus failed and became a high speed projectile.

The Fuse Link strap is guaranteed to be the weakest part in the system hence the name “Fuse Link”. Use of the strap ensures no metal objects will be dislodged that could cause harm or damage to personnel and equipment. This 2” x 25’ strap is 100% nylon UV protected with a stretch of 8%. It will store 80-85% of the energy generated in a shock load situation. The breaking point for this strap is 16,000-19,000 lbs.

The Check List is filled out by both parties involved in the vehicle recovery process to ensure all parts are installed and properly secured and all safety measures are in place. The 2-Part carbonless Checklist ensures nothing is over looked before the recovery operation begins.

The Visi- Sleeve is a high visibility sleeve that is placed in the middle of the recovery strap to illuminate the strap during night time vehicle recovery operations and allow oncoming traffic to see the strap and avoid collision.

The Carry Bag ensures everything is in one spot and ready for you when you need it. There are safe vehicle recovery precautions printed directly on the bag as well as reflective striping for added safety. Custom logos are available for larger orders.

The Snap Trap is a kinetic energy diffuser that will capture a failed vehicle recovery strap which could cause injury to persons or equipment damages. The Snap Trap is sold separately and comes in its own Carry Bag.
