ALBARRIE LIMITED SUPPORTS MR. PUSHUP AND THE CANADIAN MENTAL HEALTH ASSOCIATION

Sep 25, 2020

In the wake of the Covid-19 pandemic and social distancing and isolation regulations, many Canadians find themselves at a loss regarding mental health. The pandemic has spurred many mental health issues around the country, the most common being anxiety and depression.

Randy Beal, also known as Mr. Pushup, took on the challenge to bring mental health awareness to Barrie, Ontario while raising money for the Canadian Mental Health Association (CMHA). Armed with signs, water, a donation box, and a positive attitude, Beal set off on October 01 to do 45,000 pushups around every corner of the community for 19 days.

“I want to let people know that they don’t have to do this by themselves,” says Beal, “It all starts with a phone call to the CMHA. They help everyone.”

Albarrie presented Beal, a casual laborer for the company, a $500.00 check for CMHA during his final campaign push on October 19 at the corner of Holgate and Bayview.

Beal, who is over 60, battled mental health issues but never reached out for help until the pandemic. He called the CMHA and received the help he needed to get back on his feet and now feels the need to give back.

“I think people are inspired,” says Liz Grummet, Manager of Resource and Development at CMHA. “He has the courage to stand outside and give people hope. People are counting on hope now.”

If you or someone you love is experiencing mental health issues, call CMHA at 705-726-5033 for help. You can also donate on their website at https://cmhastarttalking.ca.
