BEHLEN Becoming Known World-Wide for Sport Facilities

Feb 21, 2018

Brandon (MB) – February 21, 2018 – While a BEHLEN sports arena has been a common sight in Canada for years now, with countless facilities found in communities across the country, the last decade has seen the popular Canadian product start popping-up around the globe.

With the most recent headline-grabbing project, the Gangneung Curling Centre, hosting all the curling events in South Korea for the 2018 Olympic Games, BEHLEN facilities have found themselves at the heart of Olympic activities for the second time – the first being in the iconic Peak2Peak inter-mountain gondola facility used heavily by spectators and athletes during the 2010 Olympic Games in Vancouver.

Providing such instrumental structures in multiple Olympic events has helped Behlen to garner interest from other sporting organizations, such as Ministries of Sport in various countries like Georgia, the home country of the three newest large sports facilities simultaneously erected in Gori, Telavi and Batumi, all produced in Brandon, Manitoba, Canada. In recent years, Behlen has completed numerous large arenas and sports facilities in communities around the planet. Among these arenas is the world-record-holding Soccer Arena Enisey in Krasnoyarsk, boasting a 313’ wide clear-span and FIFA-regulation-sized soccer field, making it the largest frameless steel structure on Earth.

While larger projects can be the most exciting, Behlen also produced several smaller community sports recreation complex buildings erected simultaneously across Russia in 2014, built to house basketball courts and all-purpose gymnasium space, offering 19,000 sq. ft. to host healthy community initiatives through sport and exercise.

“Recreational facilities have been one of our four major focus areas for decades,” says Sean Lepper, General Manager & Vice President of BEHLEN Industries. “Right now, we’re providing a product and service that no one else on the planet can compete with, and that’s making our buildings very popular everywhere in the world.”

Ranging from the 124,000+ square foot facility in Krasnoyarsk to the 19,000 square foot community facilities across Russia, BEHLEN recreational facilities can be designed and constructed to meet any needs in any location.
