BESTECH to boost blood donations through clinic adoption

Jun 19, 2018
BESTECH is partnering with Canadian Blood Services to help ensure lifesaving blood products are available to hospital patients in need. As part of its commitment to serving the community, BESTECH has generously adopted the Sudbury blood donor clinic and committed to recruit new donors and fill appointments. The goal is to add 176 donations to the blood bank during the week of June 25-29.

“We’re encouraging BESTECH staff, clients, friends, and family members to be heroes and donate blood before the Canada Day long weekend,” said Patrick Fantin, BESTECH Engineering Services General Manager.

New Donors Needed Every Month

“Sudbury needs 150 new donors every month to help meet hospital demand and we’d like to do our part to make that happen. It can take eight donors a week to help someone with leukemia, and the need for blood is always highest in the summer, especially before a long weekend.”

Fantin added that each BESTECH blood drive donor will help save lives and be eligible to win a valuable gift basket if they enter a draw when they donate during the clinic adoption week.

BESTECH staff, clients, friends, and family members can take part by making an appointment at the Sudbury clinic on Barrydowne Road. Clinic hours are Monday and Tuesday from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m., and Thursday and Friday from 8:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. Donors in North Bay may also contribute to the BESTECH blood drive by making an appointment at the mobile clinic. Phone 1-888-2DONATE or visit blood.ca for more information about donating or to make an appointment.

“By adopting a clinic, BESTECH will be making a difference in the lives of hospital patients,” said Joanne Drake, Canadian Blood Services Territory Manager. Drake described the adoption process as simple and effective. “Choose a clinic date and recruit donors from your organization, your networks, customers, and community, and you can help give life to those in need. Canadian Blood Services will work with interested organizations to plan and support their involvement.” For more information about clinic adoption, visit blood.ca/partnersforlife.
