BESTECH appoints Patrick Fantin President to lead expansion plans

Nov 1, 2019
SUDBURY, ON - BESTECH announced that Patrick Fantin, P.Eng., will lead the engineering company as President and support expansion plans into new service areas and markets, effective November 1, 2019.

BESTECH President, effective November 1, 2019

Fantin has been serving BESTECH as General Manager, Engineering Services, since January 1, 2018. In this role, he provided leadership to more than 80 engineers, supervisors, project managers, designers, and technicians at multiple locations and mine sites.

BESTECH CEO Marc Boudreau, P.Eng., made the announcement on October 30, stating that Fantin’s demonstrated leadership as General Manager, Engineering Services, paved the way for the company to start a new mining engineering service division.

Fantin was also instrumental in guiding BESTECH to build its business in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA) through the successful acquisition of the Ajax-based Primary Power Group, announced in September. Most importantly, Boudreau said, Fantin has been successful in leading diverse teams across BESTECH’s multidisciplinary engineering service divisions to ensure client projects meet or exceed expectations.

Pat (Patrick) is an effective team leader in our engineering service business, which is a people business, at its core,” Boudreau said. “He brings broad industry experience, and he understands our culture and our vision, which is to continue to be the partner of choice for clients, community, and employees. BESTECH has a sustainable growth plan to support that vision. We are confident that Pat will continue to develop relationships and make strategic decisions that support our vision, our clients, and our employees.”

Fantin said he aims to foster a “next-generation engineering firm.” He sees opportunities for growth by supporting clients and employees, ensuring they know “that they’re part of something bigger, something different.”

BESTECH is celebrating its 25th anniversary in 2020. To that point, Fantin said the company has matured and is poised for growth.

“Our culture and innovative spirit make this a place where emerging leaders benefit from experienced professionals, and vice versa. Ultimately, we’re in the people business. Maintaining strong relationships with clients and employees means our business thrives,” he said.

Fantin joined BESTECH in October 2016 as Principal Engineer after working as an independent consultant. He also served as Vice President, Technical Services at Rail-Veyor Global Technologies, following a long tenure in management and engineering with Glencore (formerly Xstrata Nickel, and Falconbridge).
