Biotalent Canada’s Popular Hiring Program Renewed
BACKGROUND
Business Improvement Group (BIG) partnered with BioTalent Canada in November of 2012 to reach out to the biotechnology community to assist in recognizing eligible SR&ED projects and maximizing legitimate SR&ED claims.
Through this partnership BIG and BioTalent have been able to improve cash flow and provide additional investment opportunities for companies conducting research and development in Canada.
FUNDING OPPORTUNITY
Investments in Human Capital, specifically in the areas of R&D, marketing, sales or other business positions, are critical to a company’s continued innovation and success. This is particularly true in the Canadian bio-economy. These costs can be prohibitive though, particularly for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) without large financial and human resources to draw upon.
Therefore, BIG and Sister Company BIG Funding Inc. (BFI) are excited to announce that their partner, BioTalent Canada has received an additional $1.5M in funding for their Career Focus Program for the 2014-2015 year.
WHAT ARE THE DETAILS?
BioTalent Canada was created in 1997 with the mission to help equip Canada with the best, most skilled talent it requires to become one of the world leaders in biotechnology. Their latest endeavor to reach this goal, the BioTalent Canada Career Focus program, offers wage subsidies for Canadian companies in the private sector that will hire a recent graduate related to the bio-economy.
Companies can obtain support for 50% of a recent graduate’s salary up to $20,000. Internships must be a minimum of 3 months and end by March 31, 2015.
Possible industries where biotechnology may be used include: Biotechnology R&D, Food and Beverage, Renewable Chemicals, Pharmaceutical, Forestry, Information Technology, Diagnostics, Aquaculture, Consumer Products, Agriculture, Biofuels, Law Firms, Mining, Biobased Materials, Bio-plastics, Industrial Enzymes, Bioremediation, Oil & Gas, Waste Management, Health Care or Finance.
