Case Study

Apr 28, 2014
When a customer complained about chronic drive failures in a crushed rock screener/washer, data was taken on a newly installed replacement for this unit. It was our opinion that no practical design changes would withstand forces of 40-80 g’s for a sustained period of time.

PROBLEM: Capacity goals were not attainable for this change in an industry standard design created to increase output. Newly installed unit soon failed.

SOLUTION: Decrease the size of unit to industry standard design and increase the length of unit rather than the width. Twisting of the drive assembly due to lack of rigidity in the structure was the root cause of failure.

"The observations and experiences I relate are not an indictment of anyone's products and services.  I truly believe we have metamorphosed into an industry of mistaken expectations, both consumer and supplier, of the good and services necessary for both survival and success."  Randy Springer
