The Canadian Tradex/ Mining Life contingent consisting of Rory Dredhart, Vice President of Mining Life, John Goulet, Sales Manager and Frank Giorno, editor of www.mininglifeonline.net  more than participated in PDAC 2014 – they covered it like expert wall paper applicators.

PDAC is the largest mining convention in Canada and the third largest in the world. Annually more than 35,000 people attend PDAC in Toronto from around the globe. The Toronto Stock Exchange (TSX) is the largest mining stock market in the world and a centre for mining financing.

Rory and John pounded the floor meeting mining industry representatives and promoted the Northern Mines Expo in Timmins May 27-May 29, 2014; and the Northern American Mines Expo in Sudbury, Ontario this September, 2014.

Yesterday, March 3, 2014, Frank attended the opening sessions which featured speeches by Joe Oliver, federal Minister of Natural Resources and Bob Rae, the lead negotiator for the Matawa First Nation Regional Council. Stories and videos of the Minister’s speech and news scrum will be posted shortly. As will video highlights of Bob Rae’s speech.

Later in the day Rory and John participated in a booth presentation for Canadian Tradex  over at the old railway round house, better known today as the Steam Whistle brewery. Canadian Tradex had an exhibit set up from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. The well-attended event -which had more to do with the excellent mining industry presentation than it did about Steam Whistle Beer - brought many people to the Canadian Tradex booth as well as the nearby booths belonging to Fednor, the Town of Cochrane, the Ontario Clean Water Agency and many others/

Frank attended two presentations in the afternoon – the joint statement by the Quebec Minister of Natural Resources and Goldcorp on the posting of a cleanup funds by Goldcorp at its Eleonore gold mine near Val D’Or, Quebec. Goldcorp’s funds exceeded the requirements of the Quebec government.

A surprise last minute development was the announcement that the Right Honourable Stephen Harper the Prime Minister of Canada was going to appear and make a statement at PDAC. The conference has been very well attended by senior Federal government cabinet ministers, in addition to Prime Minister Harper and Joe Oliver, Minister John Baird delivered a speech at the Media reception on Sunday March 2, 2014. Gary Rickford the Minister Responsible for the Ring of Fire was also present at the Media Reception

Stories, photos and videos from PDAC 2014 will be posted on www.mininglifeonline.net   shortly.
