Challenge: Blasthole drills set the pace for your entire fragmentation process. Any interruption in service can result in slowed mine production or worse – idle equipment. Even the best preventive maintenance strategy can fail to identify emerging equipment problems. Solution: Emerson works with mine companies and drilling equipment manufacturers to outfit blasthole drills with the Emerson CSI 6500 online, condition-based monitoring system. By continuously monitoring vibration on vehicle systems such as the hoist-pulldown and top drive, your maintenance staff can gain greater visibility into problems as they arise. You no longer have to take your equipment out of service for periodic data collection as your staff can assess vehicle irregularities from the safety of a centralized control room. Interfacing with Emerson's AMS Machinery Manager software, your staff can determine equipment faults and severity and correlate findings with other collected data such as oil samples – all within the same software environment.
