Companies conclude delivery of 3.7 million intubation medications

May 12, 2021
In a reinforcement to the solidarity action of donating intubation medication, Vale has counted on the support of more companies to purchase these inputs. An additional 300,000 medications will be donated for the treatment of patients with Covid-19 admitted to the ICUs, making a total of 3.7 million analgesics, sedatives and neuromuscular blockers. All inputs are being delivered to the Ministry of Health, responsible for distribution by the States through the Unified Health System (SUS). The last batch of this new emergency shipment, acquired in China, arrived in the early morning of May 11, at 4:20 a.m., at Guarulhos airport, in São Paulo. This time, BR Distribuidora and Instituto Brasileiro de Petróleo e Gás (IBP), which is representing, besides BR, ICONIC, Ipiranga, Petrobras and Petrogal Brasil, have joined Vale.

"We are in an emergency situation, facing the greatest public calamity of our time. The sense of urgency calls for the unity of all to tackle Covid-19. Since the beginning of the pandemic, we have mobilized and used our logistical capacity to bring supplies from China to help Brazilian society in this fight for life," says Luiz Eduardo Osorio, Vale's Executive Vice President of Institutional Relations and Communication.

The new initiative adds to another donation, of 3.4 million medications for intubation, from another pool of companies, formed by ENGIE, Itaú Unibanco, Klabin, Petrobras, Raízen, TAG and Vale, as announced on April 8. The items have import authorization issued by Anvisa (Brazilian Health Regulatory Agency), in addition to certification from the Chinese health agency.
