HOW TO SELECT THE RIGHT PUMP FOR YOUR CONSTRUCTION PROJECT

May 25, 2021

It’s Spring which means it’s Pump season! We recently sat down with our Pump Solutions expert, Jason Bunston, to give you all the tips and tricks to make sure your next Pump project runs smoothly!

How to Select the Correct Pump for Your Project

Selecting the right pump for your project is key.

The first thing you need to consider when renting a pump is the scope of your project. It is very important for you to have a clear understanding of what you want to achieve. This would include the typeof material you are looking to pump and what area you are pumping to and from. Bunston also stresses that it is crucial to consider the depth of the water you need to pump, as this will determine the size of the hose needed to get to the bottom of the spot you’re taking water from. Knowing this will help your equipment provider assess your situation so they can provide you with correctly sized pumps and accessories.

Before renting a pump, Bunston emphasizes the importance of being proactive by being aware of any issues that may occur if the pump needs to be shut off. If for example, the pump stopping would create a severe problem, Bunston recommends ensuring you connect a backup on site to be safe and avoid running into trouble.

Another thing to keep in mind is to ask yourself if there are any specifications or rules that need to be followed on your project, and what type of flow needs to be incorporated into the design. Once you have all the details, your equipment provider can customize an in-depth plan and solution for your project.

What Sets Cooper’s Pumps Apart?

Bunston says “At Cooper we carry a wide variety of BBA Pumps which are known to prime faster, use less fuel and are much quieter than your typical pump. This means that not only are they environmentally friendly, they also won’t be disruptive, making it easy for you to complete your project no matter where you’re located.”

All of Cooper’s pumps have “fuel and forget” engines and use top quality hoses that prevent any leaks from occurring during use. Bunston says “You can rest assured that the pump you rent from Cooper will complete the job without breaking down or causing any problems due to their long lifespan and stellar build.”

“Additionally, all our Pumps are Final Tier 4 and are set up with GPS tracking so we are able to easily locate the piece of equipment and identify if there are any issues. All these features make for a seamless process that will solve all your pumping needs” shares Bunston.
