At our February group meeting in Knoxville, Tennessee, we announced that our mining team had been recognized as Nexans Remarkable People 2019 award recipients. We delayed this announcement until the group came together because most of its members are located throughout the United States and Canada.

 

Within AmerCable, we have known these are remarkable people for many years. AmerCable accounts for 54% of Nexans' global mining sales and our Tiger® Brand mining cables are the dominant market leader in North America. We achieved this leadership role through the hard work of the people in this picture. Our field reps and CSRs know our customers intimately and are also extremely experienced in mining applications, which allows us to work in partnership with our end-users to help them operate more safely and productively. We also support many of our distributors by helping manage their inventories so our customers can be sure the cable they need is always available. Our field reps train more than 1700 miners each year on how to correctly handle and deploy cables. Many times these training and education sessions are held on weekends for all shifts so we don’t disrupt the mine’s schedule. Our people are regularly providing application solutions hundreds of feet underground in coal or potash mines, and in blazing hot or frigid copper, gold, iron ore or coal surface mines. For mining operations in North America, the Nexans AmerCable mining team delivers outstanding cable productivity solutions.

 

Our official winners are Stéphane Bilodeau, Ben Cornell, Murray Duncan, Mark Jenkins (a Remarkable People 2016 recipient), Sharon McDonough, Drew Nelson, Pat Roybal, Russ Van Wyck, Keith Wilson and Michael Wylie. However, the credit goes to everyone on the team that works hard each day to keep the mining industry powered up. In our current world, most things we use begin in a mine, and AmerCable is there to help make it happen.
