Eaton Broadens Champ LED Portfolio with New Hi-Lumen Models to Provide Safe, Reliable and Efficient Lighting Solutions for Harsh and Hazardous Areas

Jun 17, 2014
SYRACUSE, N.Y. Power management company Eaton has added four new hi-lumen models to its award-winning line of Champ® LED (light-emitting diode) luminaires. The new hi-lumen models, developed by Eaton’s Crouse-Hinds business, range from 13,000 to 25,000 lumens – 400W to 1000W high intensity discharge (HID) equivalents – and are designed for mounting heights of up to 60 feet. Available in both hazardous area and ordinary location versions, the hi-lumen fixtures provide a safe, long-lived, and energy-efficient option for areas where continuous and consistent light levels are crucial. The luminaires are suitable for use within oil and gas, mining, and other heavy industrial applications where vibration and adverse environmental conditions are common.

“With more than 100 years of harsh and hazardous lighting expertise, we are confident in our LED products and the benefits they provide to customers in the field, including quality of light distribution, reduced maintenance costs, retrofit compatibility, energy savings and added safety benefits,” said Anshuman Bhargava, LED product line manager, Eaton’s Crouse-Hinds business. “With the launch of our hi-lumen models, we further enhance our already extensive offering of lighting solutions designed to perform reliably in the harshest conditions.”

The Champ LED family is designed to transfer heat safely and reliably from the LED assembly to the outside environment, resulting in low operating temperatures and sustained, long term lighting performance. With a rated life of 60,000 hours at 55 degrees Celsius and over 170,000 hours at 25 degrees Celsius, Champ LED luminaires help reduce maintenancecosts and ensure consistent, lighting in harsh and hazardous environments where safety of assets and people are critical.

The Champ LED portfolio is compatible as a replacement for 175W to 1000W HID installed bases. The Champ LEDs are available with Type I, III or V custom optics. These optics maximize light distribution and intensity for different locations and applications. The entire line of Champ LED luminaires is listed on the DesignLights Consortium® (DLC) Qualified Product List (QPL), a leading resource that distinguishes quality, high-performing LED products for commercial and industrial projects. In addition, the Champ LED range is globally certified for use in both National Electrical Code® (NEC) and International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) code harsh and hazardous applications.
