ECO Technologies awarded Victoria Harbour dredging
ECO Technologies was recently awarded the dredging of Victoria Harbour in Prince Edward Island (Victoria, Queens Co., PEI) by Public Works and Government Services Canada (PWGSC), on behalf of the Department of Fisheries and Oceans (DFO).
The contract calls for the removal by means of suction dredging, and disposal at sea, of approx. 20,000 m3 of accumulated sediment from the 900m long navigation channel to ensure safe passage for fishermen.
To expedite the completion of the project and in hopes of completing the project prior to the start of the fall lobster fishing season, ECO Technologies has dispatched (2) dredges to the site, with each dredge operating at opposite ends of the navigation channel.
Dredging started on July 8th and is forecast to be completed by the end of July.
