Fleming College announces program status for Fall 2020 and January 2021, hosts summer bootcamps for selected programs

Jul 9, 2020

Peterborough ON – (July 9, 2020) – Fleming College today announced the status of programs for the 2020/21 academic year, and will host summer bootcamps for selected programs that were disrupted by the COVID-19 pandemic during the Winter and Spring semesters. These bootcamps will be offered as part of the provincial government’s Postsecondary Education Health Measures Framework for Reopening.

The status for all Fleming programs is available on the College’s website. As per the Fleming Safe Plan, the Fall 2020 semester begins Sept. 8, 2020 through online and alternative delivery. Program delivery is subject to change based on government and public health requirements. The Fleming Safe Plan includes pre-screening tools and mandatory COVID-19 Safe Work Practices training for all students prior to returning to campus.

“Our team has worked incredibly hard to adjust our programs, schedules and facilities as we continue to adapt to our new context,” said Maureen Adamson, President of Fleming College. “We look forward to welcoming students to our campuses at the appropriate time as we strive to support student success, while maintaining health and safety as our top priority.”

Fleming College is participating in the Summer 2020 pilot to reopen campuses for priority in-person education and training for graduating students disrupted by COVID-19. Bootcamps will be held for graduating students in their final semester of the Heating, Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Technician, Personal Support Worker, Practical Nursing, Welding and Fabrication Technician and Welding Techniques programs.

Students in these programs will begin to return to the Sutherland Campus in Peterborough to complete their outstanding learning outcomes starting July 13. Out-of-town students will have access to reconfigured spaces in the college residence. Accommodations will be available on a weekly basis and strictly adhere to all health and safety protocols.

Student support services will continue to be remotely available to students throughout the summer and fall semester. For the fall semester, limited on-campus housing will be available in Peterborough and Lindsay beginning October 22, 2020.
