May 27, 2021

Under one baton - for the first time in the history of the copper company, brass bands operating in KGHM Branches will play the same repertoire together. The occasion for a four-day, extraordinary tour is the 60th anniversary of KGHM. Copper orchestras will march along the main streets of four cities in the Copper Belt.

Joint concerts will start on May 28 in Lubin . Musicians from Huta Miedzi Głogów, Zakłady Górniczych Polkowice-Sieroszowice, Zakłady Górnicze Rudna and Zakłady Górniczych Lubin will take part in the march along the streets of Zagłębie towns. The orchestras will be accompanied by majorettes from HM Głogów.

In the following days, the event will move to other places: on May 29 to Legnica, May 30 to Głogów, and May 31 to Polkowice . The orchestras' repertoire will include, among others well-known and popular hits such as: Brass Orchestras - Halina Kunicka, Walczyk Górniczy, or the Ułański Szyk march.

The concerts of brass bands were organized for the inhabitants of the Copper Belt, who, due to the restrictions related to the pandemic, could not witness the celebration on the day of KGHM's jubilee - May 1.

Brass bands at KGHM have a long tradition, and their performances accompany many celebrations and events taking place at KGHM and the Copper Basin. The bands have marching, concert, religious and entertainment pieces in their repertoire.

The oldest one is the Głogów Copper Smelter Orchestra , which was established in 1969, while the Głogów Copper Smelter is still under construction. Their first public performance took place in 1970. The band, which has won many awards over the years, has recorded three albums and music videos. Since 2005, the orchestra has been accompanied by a group of majorettes.

The oldest mining orchestra of KGHM was established at ZG Lubin on February 20, 1970. The orchestra has released three CDs with their works, and the numerous trophies won in the group's 51-year history: cups, diplomas, congratulatory letters testify to the high artistic level.

The Orchestra of Zakłady Górniczych Polkowice-Sieroszowice was established in 1970. In addition to participating in annual celebrations related to mining traditions and for local communities, the orchestra takes part in competitions and music festivals, from which it has brought many awards.

The beginnings of the Wind Orchestra of Zakłady Górniczych Rudna date back to 1974, when its first rehearsal took place. Since its inception, the group has organized over 1,600 concerts. The orchestra played, among others during the visit of John Paul II to Wrocław and Legnica and the debut of KGHM on the WSE.
