Get Your Spook on With Halloween at Dynamic Earth

Oct 23, 2015
SUDBURY, ON – In what has quickly become one of Northern Ontario’s favourite Halloween destinations, Dynamic Earth is transforming yet again to bring back the popular Pumpkinferno™, The Zombie Tunnel of Terror and the Dr. Dread Show. Halloween at Dynamic Earth lights up the fun beginning Friday, October 9, and runs most Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays until Friday, October 30. A full schedule of hours and activities is available at dynamicearth.ca/halloween.

PumpkinfernoTM, an enchanting outdoor exhibit created by Upper Canada Village, features thousands of hand-carved pumpkins set against a glowing Sudbury backdrop on the grounds of Dynamic Earth – Home of the Big Nickel. Each installation is made up of internally-lit individual fibre pumpkins that create a spellbinding display of artistry and imagination. This year, visitors can expect a unique set that celebrates the region’s mining heritage. Pumpkinferno™ is best enjoyed after sunset, the display is open from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m.

“We’re absolutely thrilled to be bringing this award-winning display back to Sudbury this year,” said Julie Moskalyk, Senior Manager at Dynamic Earth. “This is the perfect addition to the Halloween experience at Dynamic Earth, which will not only impress our returning guests but will entice new visitors to come check out what Dynamic Earth has to offer, including the new displays, inspired food and retail offerings added this year.”

Visitors may also descend seven storeys below the Earth’s surface to explore Canada’s only underground haunted house – The Zombie Tunnel of Terror. Building on a partnership that began in 2013, Sudbury’s spookiest science centre has once again teamed up with Cambrian College’s Theatre Arts ‒ Technical Production program to intensify the fear factor underground.

“Halloween at Dynamic Earth is about imagination, creativity and talented people who come together every year to provide a scary new visitor experience,” said Cambrian College President Bill Best. “At Cambrian, we are pleased that the Zombie Tunnel of Terror will once again showcase the amazing work of our Theatre Arts – Technical Production students. They have gained valuable hands-on experience in the growing entertainment and attraction industry and, best yet, will get to observe first-hand visitor reaction to the spooky experience that they’ve helped to create.”

Visitors are reminded the Zombie Tunnel of Terror is not for the faint of heart and is recommended for ages 12 and up. Children 6 and under are not permitted.

Back by popular demand is the Dr. Dread Show, suitable for all ages, in the Atlas Copco theatre stage. This live show is 20 minutes long and is a family-friendly experience.

Tickets are $15 for the general public and $12 for Science North members, which includes admission to Pumpkinferno™, The Zombie Tunnel of Terror and the Dr. Dread Show. Tickets are available for purchase online at dynamicearth.ca/halloween and as a package with other city attractions, including the Terror Train in Capreol, through Sudburytourism.ca
