Iron Ore Technical Centre ISO/IEC 17025:2005 Accreditation

Aug 20, 2015
The ALS IRON ORE TECHNICAL CENTRE (IOTC) is now accredited by the National Association of Testing Authorities (NATA) for the analysis of Iron Ores under the ISO/IEC 17025:2005 international standard.

ALS Minerals is pleased to announce that the analytical laboratory at the IOTC has successfully completed the accreditation process and meets all requirements of the ISO/IEC 17025: 2005 international standard for the determination of Iron Ores. This accreditation is the highest technical standard achievable by a Minerals' laboratory. The laboratory will operate under Accreditation Number 825, Site Number 22780 with the following Scope of Accreditation:

7.03 Ores and Minerals

.01 Iron Ores
• The determination of twenty four (24) elements by fused disc XRF using in-house code ME-XRF21.
• Loss on ignition by thermogravimetric analyser using in-house code ME-GRA05.

In addition to the rigorous internal QA/QC, auditing and monitoring program in place at all ALS laboratories, systematic ongoing surveillance audits and assessments of the operation will be conducted by NATA. The NATA assessments check all aspects of the operation to ensure the appropriate standard is being maintained and that the laboratory consistently produces accurate and dependable data.

ALS has analysed a variety of sample types including Iron Ores for over four decades through various geochemical laboratories in the global network. In 2013, ALS established a specialised facility in Perth to supply a complete service to the Iron Ore industry.

The ALS IOTC provides a unique integration of analytical, metallurgical, mineralogical and ancillary testing services specifically focused on the iron ore sector. The facility was purpose built with significant processing capacity and state of the art equipment to process all iron ore types and products.

Attaining ISO/IEC 17025:2005 accreditation for this facility is in keeping with the ALS philosophy of continuous improvement for the benefit of clients.
