Kart Club opens season Sunday

May 24, 2019

The Sudbury Kart Club will open the Technica Mining Championship Season at Sudbury Kartways, 842 Notre Dame Ave., on Sunday.

The club has three classes this year, including novice (8-11), junior (aged 11-15), and senior (15 and up). Each race day has four on-track sessions for each class, with open practice sessions running between 8:15 a.m. and 8:45 a.m. Drivers will start qualifying sessions at 8:50 a.m. to determine their starting order for the pre-final race. Pre-final sessions start at 9:30 a.m. and determine positioning for the finals, which start at 10:25 a.m.

Drivers accumulate points towards their championship contention. A top qualifying time will earn the driver 10 points, (8, 7, 6, continued), first place in the pre-final awards the driver 50 points (42, 36, 20, continued), and a first place in the final nets 100 points (85, 72, 61, continued).

The Sudbury Kart Club is a registered non-profit all-ages karting championship, governed by ASN Canada FIA, with a growing membership of participants, volunteers, observers, and workers. Race days attract between 50 and 100 to attendees.
