KGHM's voluntary service is growing in strength - despite the pandemic, they have carried out several dozen support actions

Dec 21, 2020

They are not afraid of new challenges, they are responsible and courageous - in the difficult year 2020, the activity of employee volunteering at KGHM Polska Miedź SA did not decrease. The employees of the copper giant took part in several dozen projects for the inhabitants of the Copper Basin in need.

- 2020 has shown that nothing is obvious. He taught us to deal with unpredictable situations. He showed that we can count on the noble hearts of KGHM employees. Volunteers, while maintaining sanitary restrictions, supported seniors, prepared food packages and collected money for those in need. This is an exceptional commitment. I would like to thank everyone and everyone for this very much - said Marcin Chludziński, President of the Management Board of KGHM Polska Miedź SA

 Noble and helpful

As every year, the employees of the Company joined the nationwide campaign "Szlachetna Paczka" on a spectacular scale. Gifts for families were prepared within KGHM branches, but also individually. There were over 100 of those prepared by groups of employees. Help and contacts with families are continued after the campaign finals.

KGHM volunteers, after completing the activities as part of the "Szlachetna Paczka" project, joined the campaign to help fire victims from Lubin. A single mother with her children was provided with food and necessary supplies, such as clothes and hygiene products.

Seniors taken care of

KGHM employees took particular care of the elderly from Lower Silesia. Volunteers prepared nearly 3 thousand. food parcels. And these were not the only activities, because seniors needed contact more often than material help. Karolina, a volunteer, was supposed to go for walks with Mrs. Wanda's dog from Legnica. - Finally, although I did not go out with a senior's pet once, our numerous phone calls were extremely inspiring - said Karolina, an employee of KGHM.

Action reaction

KGHM volunteers were also involved in helping the needy colleagues from KGHM. Support was received, among others Daniel, employee of the Polkowice-Sieroszowice branch. Thanks to the collection organized by colleagues, he was able to participate in a rehabilitation stay in one of the best centers in Poland. Currently, volunteers carry out the renovation themselves and adapt the house to the needs of a disabled person.

It is worth adding that KGHM employees, associated in blood donor clubs, donated over a thousand liters of blood this year. To this impressive result, there are also individual donors and plasma donors, especially from convalescents. Volunteers responded without hesitation to the calls of blood stations in the region.

Volunteers appreciated

The activity of KGHM employees was appreciated by the County Office in Lubin. The copper company was the winner of this year's award in the COMPANY VOLUNTEERING category. Officials awarded the company for promoting various forms of social involvement and shaping pro-social attitudes.
