Our safety program protects our most valuable asset... our people

The blasting materials of today are much safer than black powder. At Austin Powder, we believe we make the finest explosives in the world. But all the quality we put into our products doesn't mean a thing if they are not used safely. That is our number one company objective.

Safety must be a part of everyone's blasting program. For a copy of Austin's Blaster Safety Tips, contact your Austin representative or call 1-800-321-0752. Fax: 216-464-4418. Bookmark this page and visit it frequently for updates.

"Safety is a state of mind, not a point in time"

Safety is an important part of Austin's culture. Our monthly safety meetings foster attitudes and practices that extend outside the workplace. In fact, our culture is so safety-oriented that our employees are financially rewarded for safe performance. By cultivating safe work attitudes, we are also insuring the safety of the general public while we go about our business. This includes not only safe blasting practices, but careful planning and consideration of routes to and from our storage and blasting sites.

At Austin, we tend to every detail... including our environment

Safety is an integral part of the blasting planning. Included in the planning process is the environmental impact of a blasting program. With today's knowledge and technology, there is no reason why all environmental parameters surrounding a blast can't be incorporated into a safe blasting program.

At Austin, we are intent, involved and in compliance

For obvious reasons, the blasting industry is heavily regulated by several governmental agencies and watchdog groups. We must adhere to regulations set forth by the Department of Transportation (D.O.T.), the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (O.S.H.A.), the Mining Safety and Health Administration (M.S.H.A.), and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms (A.T.F.).

We meet, and many times exceed, the governmental regulations to insure the safety of both the public and our employees.
