Malaysia: Vale Extends Support for Medical Frontliners in Perak

Vale in Malaysia further extends its support for medical frontliners in Perak by contributing 6,830 care packages to medical frontliners in Ipoh, Teluk Intan and Manjung. The care packages, presented as part of Vale’s ‘Kome Hero Kami’ frontliners appreciation initiative, were handed over to Dr Megat Iskandar Megat Abdul Hamid, Deputy Director of Medicine of Ipoh’s Raja Permaisuri Bainun Hospital today.
 
Rodrigo Ribeiro de Araújo, CEO of Vale in Malaysia said: “We recognise the important role that medical frontliners play in containing the COVID-19 pandemic in the State of Perak. Hospital cleaners, nurses, doctors and administrators in the state have worked long hours since last year to protect the health and wellbeing of Perak-ians, which also include our employees and business partners in Manjung. We hope these care packages, which include individual supply of healthy granola-based snacks, provide them with some joy”.
 
Since the start of the pandemic last year, Vale has contributed over MYR1.0 million worth of COVID-19 support to the local hospitals and health agencies in Perak. The support includes the contribution of over 20,000 test kits to the Ministry of Health and eight units of Powered Air-Purifying Respirators (PAPR) to Manjung Hospital. Vale has also contributed food aid worth over MYR100,000 combined to assist the most socioeconomically vulnerable households living in Pasir Panjang, Lumut and Sitiawan.
 
“We believe the fight against COVID-19 in Malaysia can only be won if we band our resources together as a team. Moving forward, we will continue to be proactive in assisting local communities and institutions in Perak to ensure that we emerge from the pandemic stronger and more resilient,” Rodrigo added.
