Many tasks, one solution – SmartCom Wi-Fi

Becker Mining Systems RUS enters new markets. Developments that have been previously used only in coal and ore mining industry are now successfully applied by KNAUF. The project that Becker Mining Systems engineers have been working on for almost 3 years has come to an end.  In Novomoskovsk, KNAUF has implemented SmartCom Wi-Fi system, one of the unique developments of Becker Group.

 

Today, KNAUF is one of the largest players in the construction materials market. Gypsum output for the production of building boards in Novomoskovsk is carried out underground. Here, the largest gypsum stone deposit in Europe is located.

 

In 2017, two major companies started working together: Becker Mining Systems RUS and KNAUF. Several tasks needed to be solved at the gypsum quarry in Novomoskovsk. KNAUF planned to implement a positioning system, voice communication and emergency notification in underground workings.

 

Only Becker Mining Systems RUS managed to provide one solution for all tasks. SmartCom Wi-Fi system fully met the project specification. It provides 100% Wi-Fi coverage of workings, allows to define the location of personnel with an accuracy of 10 meters. The same Wi-Fi protocol allows the dispatcher to communicate with any person who is in the mine workings and, in the event of an accident, urgently notify the staff of the need to evacuate.

 

2.5 years passed from the moment of receiving the project specification to the successful commissioning of the SmartCom Wi-Fi system at the KNAUF gypsum quarry in Novomoskovsk. During this time, the equipment has passed all industrial tests. Also, unique VisualMine software  has been created – an advanced Russian development that connects all the processes of the SmartCom Wi-Fi system and ensures uninterrupted data transmission.
