Dec 17, 2013

Goldcorp Porcupine Gold Mines (PMG) announced construction activities have resumed at the Hollinger site just east of downtown Timmins, after it received Environmental Compliance Permit for Air and Noise from the Ministry of the Environment. Increased levels of activity start this week on the reclamation and mining of the Hollinger

“PGM is eager to begin the transformation of this historic property,” said Heather Duhn Community Liaison Coordinator for the Hollinger Project on a notice posted on Porcupine Gold Mine Web site.

Construction activities will consist of stripping of overburden on the property. Residents can go online to observe what is going on at the site by clicking on to the link to Hollinger Live Monitoring of the site. Blasting won’t start until 2014 and Goldcorp will issue notices of what day and time the blasting will occur.

Goldcorp has stated that PGM is committed to keeping the community informed as the project moves through construction, mining and the final design and completion of the final land use plan, and encourages the public to follow the progress. Residents are invited to visit the PGM website at www.porcupinegoldmines.ca on a regular basis for updated information and links to the live noise, dust and vibration monitoring and public reports.
