MTI VRII Rail System

May 2, 2013
Our clients are at the core of our business. When they talk, we listen.

So naturally, our clients are an integral part of MTI’s research and development – and in cases like this, they are the ones that initiate product development.

When one of our clients came to us with an immediate need for a jumbo drill with specific features, our engineering department stepped up to the challenge.

The client came to our research facility in Sudbury to take a look at our Vein Runner Jumbo. The size of the hydraulic drill was perfect for the client’s application but it had to run on a 36-inch gauge track. The boom design needed some tweaking too, to allow drilling at right angels to the left or right and to be positioned vertically to drill in the back. The unit was required to operate independently on the gauge track but can also drive off the track on rubber tires.

Working closely with the client, we ensured these precise requirements were met.

The Vein Runner I, or VRII, is a product of that collaborative process and a welcomed addition to the Vein Runner Series.

In the future the VRII rail unit can be used in headings independent of rail systems. One of its unique features is its side shifting front jacks that can assist in re-entering the rail system. To top that all off, our service representative along with the mine maintenance crew incorporated a camera system to view the rear rail wheels and ensure the unit remained on track. Close cooperation with the client also allowed the system to be adjusted to accommodate an uneven track.

The VRII boasts a dozen standard features and offers a series of built-in options.

Contact us today and let’s talk about your needs.
