Muong Dong II Now Powering Vietnam into the Future
Vietnam’s largest coal power station Mong Duong II, which was successfully commissioned in May 2015 following five years of construction.
AkzoNobel supplied a number of International coatings products to the Mong Duong II project. These anticorrosive systems include our Interzinc, Intergard and Interthane protective coatings products. Our Chartek 1709 epoxy intumescent coating was also used, providing passive fire protection to the facility.
The coal power plant has a gross capacity of 1,240 GW at a cost of US$2.1 billion and is expected to boost Vietnam’s national grid by more than 7.6 billion kWh of electricity every year.
