New Hire | Serena Maki Joins Blue Heron

We would like to wish a warm welcome to Serena Maki, the latest member to join the Blue Heron Environmental team. Ms. Maki has over 10 years of managing environmental compliance systems at a number of mining operations in Ontario, and will lead our Environmental Training Programs as our newest Environmental Specialist.
 
Ms. Maki graduated with from Canadore College from the Environmental Biology Technology program, completing an internship with the Ministry of Environment and Energy’s Toxicity Laboratory.
 
Ms Maki has an extensive background in managing environmental compliance at mining operations, and has been responsible for establishing and managing the environmental budget at mine sites. Responsibilities included:
 
• developing, implementing and managing compliance and monitoring programs,
• developing and implementing staff environmental training,
• conducting site inspections and evaluating environmental risk,
• performing environmental chemistry analysis and data interpretation, as well as
• aquatic organism culturing and instrumentation maintenance.

Serena will be based out of Sudbury, leading initiatives and projects in that area, as well as providing support to our Timmins, Ottawa and Thunder Bay offices. Serena can be contacted via email: SMaki@blueheronenv.com.

Environmental Management System/ Compliance Specialist

The successful applicant will provide support to our senior permitting specialists as well as our environmental compliance staff in projects for the industrial sector, focused on mining, forestry and aggregate clients.
