Our Coatings Perform at the New Home of the Greek National Opera

Nov 6, 2015
Visitors to a new cultural center in Athens, Greece, that will house the Greek National Opera will find that high performance protective coatings from AkzoNobel have taken center stage.

Designed by renowned architects Renzo Piano Building Workshop, The Stavros Niarxos Foundation Cultural Center is due to be completed early next year. It will also be home to the National Library of Greece, in addition to being considered as a candidate for becoming one of the country’s most important public buildings. The goals of the Foundation are to enhance education, culture and sustainability, synergies which are shared with the aims of AkzoNobel’s Human Cities initiative.

Over the last four years of construction, the center has used over 25,000 liters of protective coatings including our Interseal 670HS and Interthane 990 which were used on the canopy. While Interchar 1260, our cellulosic passive fire protection coating was used on the steel structure alongside our high gloss Interfine 979 finish.
