Common Experience Payment Recipients can now apply for credits to use towards a wide range of educational programs and services

January 20, 2014 – Ottawa, ONTARIO – Aboriginal Affairs and Northern Development Canada

The Government of Canada has made available a one-time Personal Credit for educational programs and services to those who have received a Common Experience Payment (CEP) under the Indian Residential School Settlement Agreement.

Personal Credits are available for a wide range of educational programs and services, including those provided by universities, colleges, trade or training schools, Indigenous institutions of higher learning, or those related to literacy.

These Personal Credits are being made available to CEP recipients as part of the Indian Residential Schools Settlement Agreement, which was negotiated by legal counsel for former students and the Churches, the Assembly of First Naitons, other Aboriginal organizations and the Government of Canada.
