Dec 23, 2020

27 thousand protective packages: masks and liquids for disinfection and information brochures, or in the coming days will be delivered to elderly residents of Lower Silesia and Lubuskie Voivodeship - these are the next steps taken by KGHM as part of the Solidarity Corps for Seniors.

- The copper giant supports seniors and single people as part of the government program. We know that such help is especially valuable now. During a pandemic, when challenges related to health protection and isolation arise, seniors can count on support and a good word from our volunteers - said Lidia Marcinkowska - Bartkowiak, general manager for communication at KGHM Polska Miedź SA

KGHM protects seniors

Parcels with security measures will be delivered to e.g. to seniors who are looked after by Caritas volunteers from Wrocław, Legnica, Świdnica and Zielona Góra. Support will also be given to the charges of social welfare centers of local governments from the Copper Belt.

In addition to masks and disinfectant, seniors also received leaflets with the necessary information on, behavior during a pandemic and ideas for spending free time. Information is also available on the website prepared by KGHM dedicated to the elderly https://zdrowie.kghm.com/kghm-seniorom/.

The company cares and supports

KGHM, in cooperation with organizations that care for the elderly, responds to their needs on an ongoing basis. The company's volunteers prepare, among others parcels with food aid. The copper company has already allocated over 400 thousand. PLN. Food packets contain the most needed products, mainly food items with a long shelf life. This is crucial, because during a pandemic, shopping is difficult and is associated with health risk.

The company operates strategically

KGHM's strategy for 2019-2023 is implemented based on the idea of sustainable development and strengthening social responsibility. It was precisely in the face of the threat of the COVID-19 pandemic that the Company introduced a number of procedures and activities to support employees and residents of the Copper Belt. This applies to activities related to helping seniors or people in need of care in the region.
