SARJEANTS RECEIVES PERFECT SCORE IN WSPS SAFETY AUDIT

The Workplace Safety and Insurance Board (WSIB) created the Workplace Safety & Prevention Services(WSPS) Safety Group program to promote Health and Safety practices and increase awareness in organizational health. Members of the group are able to join their local chapter in annual blocks and pick from a list of which key aspects of Health & Safety they would like to work on over the coming year.

 

Once topics are chosen, employers then go through a process of creating a standard, communicating, training and evaluating procedures to make improvements and at the end of the 1 year period companies that complete the program are eligible to receive a rebate from their compensation premiums.

 

Sarjeants joined the WSPS Safety Group program in 2016 and has been a member every year since. Being in the construction industry, safety is a top priority for our company and any way to make improvements, even small ones, are important. However, through the WSPS program we have found great success in taking a focus on specific elements in which can be potentially hazardous in our operations. In 2017 through the help and structure of the WSPS program we received a perfect score on our WSIB Safety Validation Audit. Not only did this allow us to reduce injury in the workplace, but also create and evolve policies and procedures to stay current and effective.
