SDT270 Gets Makeover to Start 2013

May 8, 2015

If you’ve recently connected your SDT270 to Ultranalysis Suite Software and updated its firmware you will have noticed some changes. Your already impressive SDT270 has undergone a total makeover and emerged more powerful than ever. Better yet, SDT has made many of these new features available to our loyal customers for FREE.

Here is a Brief Overview of “What’s New” with SDT270 for 2013

Icon navigation (Free Update!)
Text or Icon? The choice is yours. The new SDT270 still offers “text” navigation for traditionalists and now features “icon” navigation for those who prefer pictures over words. Whatever your choice, maneuvering around your SDT270 has never been easier.

Acquisition time (Free Update!)
Static ultrasound data tells us the state of a machine at a given point in time. Similar to a snapshot or an x-ray, static readings can tell us when something is not quite right inside our machine. The SDT270 now gives control of the data acquisition time, expanding the data sample for a more complete picture. Enhanced control over data acquisition time turns your static data from an x-ray to an MRI. Having control of the acquisition time improves accuracy and repeatability, gives smooth and accurate trending, and reduces irrelevant alarm triggering.

Conditions indicators (Free Update!)
As early as 1980 SDT established the decibel as the standard watermark for trending the condition of machines. To help you make sense of the decibel, the new SDT270 offers four condition indicators (RMS, Max RMS, Peak, and Crest Factor). Each plays a role in helping ultrasound inspectors determine both the symptoms and the diagnosis.

Improved faster data collection (Free Update!)
Already the best ultrasonic data collector on the market, we thought… “Why not make it even better”? So we reduced the number of button pushes per data collection point by incorporating repetitive tasks as definitions of the database tree. Now, users can pre-program Acquisition Time (Ultrasound and Vibration), Bandwidth (Vibration), and Emissivity (Temperature) directly to the tree node in UAS. These parameters are transferred to the SDT270 as part of the survey to speed data collection time. Even better, we added simultaneous collection of Static and Dynamic data reducing data collection time by half again.

SDT Web Server (Paid Upgrade)
The SDT Web Server opens a conduit between the SDT270 and 3rd party CMMS programs. The 3rd party software creates tree structures and alarms and sends them to the SDT270 via its Web Server command strings. Collected data in return is sent back to the external software in the same way, allowing users to consolidate their maintenance software to their own CMMS. CMMS companies wishing to open a development project with the Web Server should contact SDT.

Vibration severity measurements (Paid Upgrade)
The SDT270 already can measure Static Ultrasound, Dynamic Ultrasound, Temperature, and Rotational Speed. So why not complete the CBM with Vibration? With a simple upgrade your SDT270 can connect to any generic ICP 100mV/g accelerometer and measure Velocity, Acceleration RMS, Acceleration Peak, and Acceleration Crest Factor. Like other measurement parameters, all data can be added to your UAS Database Tree and Survey. UAS Static trends and alarms Velocity and Acceleration data based on the ISO 10816 severity standard. UAS Dynamic provides basic analysis of dynamic vibration measurements in the time and frequency domain.

Static data recorded from Dynamic in survey mode (Free Update!)
To improve survey ergonomics SDT270DU now captures the Static data each time it records the Dynamic data, effectively halving the time spent gathering data in the field. Static data is calculated based on the acquisition time defined for the Dynamic signal making it extremely accurate and repeatable.

UAS central database version (Paid Upgrade)
SDT’s programmers continue their work in the background making Ultranalysis Suite the most powerful ultrasound data management software available. Now available for Networks, UAS users can have their database reside on one computer to be accessed remotely by any other PC running a Networked License.
